The Organization: The Group Health Centre is a progressive multi-speciality ambulatory care health care organization, and is one of Canada’s first consumer-sponsored health care facilities. As Ontario’s largest and longest- established alternatively funded healthcare organization, Group Health Centre serves over 70,000 Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District residents.
 
Position Summary: The Echocardiography Technologist performs high quality Transthoracic Echocardiograms including 3DEF and Strain. Some duties may include: performing M-mode, 2-D, Doppler and colour flow echocardiograms in accordance with Group Health Centre’s standard procedures while providing excellent patient care. The Echocardiography Technologist may also perform routine maintenance of equipment, prepare Echocardiography Case Studies to share with the team, perform peer reviews, and maintain up to date departmental files and records.
 
Required Qualifications:
 
  • Diploma in Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Sonography from an accredited College
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer with current and valid registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
 
The Ideal Candidate will Possess:
 
  • Minimum of two years’ experience
  • The ability to make frequent and independent decisions when performing technological procedures and assessing diagnostic results
  • Working knowledge of echocardiology procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology with a thorough understanding of cardiac abnormalities and disease processes
  • Demonstrated experience recording patient history and documenting impressions of examinations to the Radiologist
  • Ability to provide an excellent patient experience evidenced by good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated care and safety of patients prior to, during, and following examination
  • Excellent team member skills able to collaborate with other members of the health care team
  • Ability to administer basic patient care as required
  • A good understanding of proper use and care of equipment
  • A solid track record of maintaining privacy and confidentiality in the workplace
 
Compensation:
 
  • Salary as per the CUPE Collective Agreement – $30.21 to $37.71 commensurate with experience
