Underground Mine Planning Engineer
 
As a member of Technical services and Mineral Resource Management team, the successful candidate will report to the Operational Support Superintendent and work a 5:2, 4:3 roster.  This role will require an individual who is safety driven and safety conscious, and capable of working with a diverse team of technical services staff, underground operations personnel, and production geologists.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and demonstrate safety leadership
  • Providing and coordinating effective Strategic and Long Term (LOM) mine plans and schedules.
  • Produce and evaluate multiple scenarios of mine plans, schedules, and capital plans with multiple, competing constraints to determine optimal path forward
  • Coordinate with Mine Operations to generate required tonnage and grade.
  • Ensuring effectiveness and safe productivity of the mine.
  • Complete Production Schedules and identify the major constraints and possible solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with mine production and geology departments and assist other functional areas to achieve their objectives, and to ensure safe and efficient mine operations.
 
Qualifications:
 
Preferred qualifications include:
 
  • Bachelor of engineering (Mining)
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer  
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in underground mining environment with at least 5 years’ experience in underground Long Term Mine Planning
  • Experience with Deswik and Vulcan mining software
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to walk significant grades underground and lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Strong communication, computing, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with geology, engineering and production personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, motivated self-starter with high standards expected of themselves and others
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced mine production environment.
