Reporting to the Director, Environment and Community Relation, the Principal Advisor, Community Planning will be responsible for implementing all aspects of GGM’s Indigenous relations portfolio.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
 
▪ In collaboration with GGM senior management, develop and execute the strategy for implementation of agreements between GGM and applicable Indigenous communities, including aspects such as employment and business opportunities, training and implementation committees.
▪ Foster and maintain strong relationships with our Indigenous partners
▪ Support engagement efforts related to Project permitting
▪ Provide a local presence and facilitate coordination within the communities as required to attain their successful participation in the project benefits in a manner consistent with GGM practices and principles.
▪ Engage community leadership and representatives, solicit on-going input and feedback, and collaborate on human resources, training, business, and other matters consistent with the agreements.
▪ Implement commitments, and ensure GGM is in compliance with its requirements
▪ Support the collaborative design and active participation in the Long Temp Relationship Agreement Implementation Committee(s)
 
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
 
▪ Outstanding organizational skills and ability to mufti-task
▪ Ability to listen and communicate in a clear, authentic and respectful manner
▪ A self starter, a relentless drive and perseverance to achieve the goals
▪ Experience working and negotiating with Indigenous community members and local communities
▪ Experience in implementation of Long Temp Relationship Agreements
▪ Knowledge of the mining industry particularly the technical aspects that comprise the Long-Term Relationship Agreement
▪ Demonstrated project management experience
▪ Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices, policies and procedures
▪ Ability to drive for results through planning, alignment and execution
▪ Ability to make optimal decisions through accountability, judgement, problem solving, prudent risk taking, and market/industry awareness
▪ Ability to build working relationships through respect & integrity, open communication, teamwork, negotiation, influence and relationship management
▪ Ability to drive high performance by delegating authority, setting goals and measuring performance, continuous learning & coaching,
recognizing and rewarding
 
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
 
• Relevant degree of diploma
▪ 10-15 years related experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role with Indigenous communities
▪ Experience in the mining industry and/or experience in major construction projects.
 
LOCATION
 
▪ Position work location will be in Greenstone, Ontario region.
