Process Engineering Superintendent
 
The Opportunity: 
 
The Process Engineering Superintendent leads a team of process engineers, process technologists, and metallurgists to provide technical support and direction to the Long Harbour Operations team. The technical support entails scoping/management of change on improvement projects, performing day to day troubleshooting, providing leadership and guidance in process safety management and supporting plant operations in terms of plant process monitoring and reporting.
 
The Process Engineering Superintendent will be heavily involved with ramp-up activities to achieve nameplate capacity.
 
This is a full-time permanent position based in Long Harbour, NL.
 
Accountabilities:
  • Lead and develop a team of process engineers, process technologists, and metallurgists;
  • Provide mentorship and manage personal development for direct reports;
  • Coordinate plant operation to maximize operational process efficiency through work with and support to the Production Planning team;
  • Identify improvement opportunities and scope improvement projects;
  • Report on key process metrics and investigation into process KPI deviations;
  • Manage, prioritize, and schedule activities of the Process Engineering team;
  • Develop operational plans for the Production Area, Site Services, and Reliability/Maintenance teams and provide guidance to support groups to meet the production targets;
  • Coordinate and provide project management to short term and long-term projects in order to facilitate process, production, operational and safety improvements;
  • Support Production Planning with long term planning and feedstock assessments;
  • Monitor the collection and reporting of process data, analyze the information, and make recommendations maximizing production and improving risk management and safety performance;
  • Monitor overall plant production performance and plant integrity; communicate with the Operations Department Managers to ensure processes are in place to sustain and build production capability to meet targets outlined in the business plan;
  • Promote SafeProduction work practices in the workplace;
  • Support process safety management program;
  • Work with Management to identify, quantify, and develop strategies for mitigating risks;
Education:
  • An undergraduate Engineering degree;
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEGNL; Eligible or obtained
Experience: 
  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a similar role preferred,
  • Industrial and/or operating environment an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Metallurgical knowledge and experience an asset.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), as well as interpersonal skills.
