Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Process Plant Reliability Engineer to join our Process Plant Maintenance team reporting to the Reliability Supervisor.
 
Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.
 
The Process Plant Reliability Engineer will be responsible to optimize plant availability and throughput by improving asset reliability and integrity, using various engineering processes including but not limited to, failure analysis, defect elimination, asset management strategy reviews and facilitating the development and implementation of improvement action plans.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Your responsibilities will include:
 
  • Oversee condition monitoring activities related to process plant equipment;
  • Champion and implement world class reliability programs that will maximize production and profit by minimizing downtime;
  •  Conduct regular and formal downtime analysis for critical equipment;
  • Analyze and collaborate with maintenance personnel on strategies and procedures and make recommendations to improve safety, efficiencies and effectiveness;
  • Act as a technical resource to assist the maintenance team with troubleshooting equipment issues and systemic problems;
  • Operate in compliance with all applicable legal and engineering standards and specifications;
  • Assist with the completion of risk assessments for maintenance activities and support the development of safe work procedures.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Our ideal candidate has:
 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; or Technologist with exceptional experience in a similar leadership role;
  • Professional designation is preferred;
  • Experience with equipment reliability programs is an asset;
  • Exposure to project management techniques;
  • Familiarity with mineral processing, specifically with crushers, SAG and ball mills circuits, bearings, pumps, etc are an asset;
  • Strong analytical and communication skills;
  • Proven commitment to safety, heath and environmental best practices;
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills;
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, time management and communication skills;
  • Strong business acumen and intermediate to advanced level knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, PI Vision/Historian and SAP.

ASSAYER 1

The Assayer 1 processes Mine Production and Exploration samples for grade control providing vital information in a timely method to assist in key decision making relating to mining/geology activity and reconciling samples entering and exiting the Mill Process.

MINE PLANNER/EIT

The Mine Planner/EIT will be responsible for mine planning within the 3 - 6 month planning interval. 

ASSAYER 2

The Assayer 2 processes Mine Production and Exploration samples for grade control providing vital information in a timely method to assist in key decision making relating to mining/geology activity and reconciling samples entering and exiting the Mill Process.

ASSAYER 3

The Assayer 3 processes Mine Production and Exploration samples for grade control providing vital information in a timely method to assist in key decision making relating to mining/geology activity and reconciling samples entering and exiting the Mill Process.
