Description
The Product Manager – Firestop, will develop business and product strategies for firestop products used in construction, plumbing and electrical end markets. This role is universal touching every function within RectorSeal leading teams both commercially and technically, internally and externally.
A successful candidate will have strong knowledge of firestop products and applications, ideally with experience with firestop caulks and strips. A successful candidate will have product management experience and will have a technical background and leadership skills. A successful candidate must be able to manage cross-functional teams, as well as have the high proficiency to communicate clearly, professionally, technically and effectively in person, through presentations and email.
Responsibilities
- Manage current RectorSeal Firestop Product offerings, develop strategies to protect and differentiate current product offerings. Ideation of new products to complement current RectorSeal product offerings. This includes line reviews and SKU harmonization/rationalization.
- Lead and manage the complete product development process initiatives. Develop product specifications, timelines and financial model detailing CAPEX and ROI.
- Work in collaboration with sales, engineering, and contractors to develop, ideate and lead the product development process.
- Collaborate with marketing team to commercialize and launch new product offerings.
- Work with manufacturing to develop work processes for new products
- Work with quality to write product specifications and quality metrics
- Work with fire test lab to set testing protocol and certifying bodies
- Develop and Manage product life cycles.
- Conduct market research and understand RectorSeal strategic positioning. Identify areas / products of strength and identify gaps and areas of weakness.
- Evaluate Intellectual Property and identify and execute IP strategies.
- Develop strategic approach to competition. Identify areas of strength and weakness. Based on competition facilitate RectorSeal’s strategic initiatives.
- Develop new product literature, white papers and sales training material.
- Work in collaboration with marketing to optimize RectorSeal brand position, product position and packaging.
Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in firestop engineering or chemical engineering strongly preferred
- 3 years firestop industry experience
- 1-3 years product development experience
