Job Description
 
Canam is seeking a Project Manager Assistant to support and assist the Hambro and Murox project management department in Western Canada, based in our Canam Calgary location.
 
The Project Manager Assistant is responsible for assisting project managers on the administrative aspect of projects. The ideal candidate will be required to assist project managers in coordinating all contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications that include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Support project managers with various day-to-day activities, such as setting up meetings, updating calendars, assisting other construction site personnel, etc.
  • Assist in the coordination of supply and installation of deck packages
  • Document control and management
  • Project controls: assist with material procurement, fabrication scheduling, delivery confirmation
  • Cost tracking and job cost analysis and invoicing
  • Scheduling team meetings, various meetings and updating travel calendar
  • Project schedule adherence: assist in monitoring the project schedule and progress
  • Meeting minutes and documentation: attend meetings and kick offs with internal and external customers
  • Project management monthly report generation
  • Change management: support PMs with extras and back charges document control
  • Contract administration support and collaboration
  • Site project personnel assistance
 
Qualifications
 
The successful candidate will possess:
 
  • The ability to effectively multitask and manage multiple priorities (essential)
  • Exceptional organizational and English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • French language skills would be considered an asset
  • Regular and reliable attendance; ability to work overtime and occasional travel to job sites
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Project and other software
  • Aptitude to learn various computer applications
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Education and/or experience in Business Administration would be considered an asset
  • Punctuality, maturity, reliability, and ability to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions while delivering exceptional customer service is essential to excel in this role

Work environment: Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. General office and constant exposure to computer display. Safety PPE (personal protective equipment) must be worn while onsite (steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.) Daily interaction with construction site personnel, managers and other team members.

As a member of our team, your responsibilities include stack and secure materials in designated areas; move materials to staging areas or to transportation vehicles.
