Bureau Veritas is looking for a Quality Assistant.
 
This a fixed-term contract - 8 months.
 
Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Quality Assistant will perform duties related to the administration of the Upstream Minerals (UM) Quality program and work closely with the UM Quality Health and Safety team.  
 
As a Quality Assistant, your responsibilities are:
 
  • Comply with the OHS Act and Regulations, BV Group Policy and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Quality Assistant position 
  • Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Be a strong proponent for risk-based thinking and improvement initiatives  
  • Ensure proper implementation and oversight of the Quality program by: 
  • Performing internal audits as assigned and in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001 and BV Group Policies 
  • Participating in external assessments/audits with accreditation/registration bodies 
  • Providing training on elements of the Quality program as assigned  
  • Providing technical and advisory support on matters related to the management system 
  • Providing reports on quality assurance and quality control activities to the UM management team 
  • Assisting in the standardization and implementation of UM policies and procedures  
  • Assisting in the development and validation of local technical methods
  • Assisting in the review and update of the measurement uncertainty data collected for technical methods  
  • Assisting in the control and revision of procedures and associated documents 
  • Assisting in the investigation of client complaints and reporting of responses 
  • Performing scheduled verifications of balances, working weights and thermometers  
  • Assisting in the management of the external calibration program  
  • Assisting in the management of laboratory proficiency testing activities 
  • Assisting in the management of quality control activities related to reference and proficiency test materials  
  • Participating in professional development and training as required 
  • Report any deviation(s) from documented procedures to the Director of Technical Services 
  • Report any unsafe condition(s) observed during the dispensation of their duties to the Director of Technical Services  
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management 
 
You are an ideal Quality Assistant if you have:
 
  • Minimum Science Technical Diploma or BSc or equivalent 
  • Minimum 2 years laboratory experience  
  • Proficient in computer typing and applications 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English 
  • Attention to details and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines 
 

Laboratory Technician - Environment Pre-processing Lab
  • To provide general support in the pre-processing of samples and perform certain analysis
  • General lab support including sort and distribute, pre-processing of samples, weighing and analysis.
Human Resources Specialist
  • Provide professional Human Resources advice to a dedicated client group within the Food, DNA/Forensics and Corporate Services lines of business
  • Provide full cycle recruitment services/guidance to management and staff as well as onboarding and off boarding of employees
Laboratory Technician - ISP/PO

Responsible for Inorganics Sample Preparation (soil and water) and relatively straightforward laboratory testing.

Sample Preparation Technician - Timmins

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager and under the general guidance of the Sample Prep Supervisor and/or Shift Lead Hand, the Sample Preparation Technician performs duties related to the preparation of client samples for analysis.

Geochemistry Laboratory Technician

Reporting to the Geochemistry Manager and under the supervision of the Assistant Manager and/or Shift Supervisor, the Geochem Laboratory Technician will perform duties related to processing and analysis of client samples in the Geochemistry department.

Quality Assistant

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Quality Assistant will perform duties related to the administration of the Upstream Minerals (UM) Quality program and work closely with the UM Quality Health and Safety team. 

Metallurgical Assayer

Reporting to the Chief Assayer, the Metallurgical Assayer will perform duties relating to the analysis of all samples and test products. 

Environmental Laboratory Sample Receiver

Responsible for receiving environmental samples from clients and couriers, unpacking, inspecting and labeling samples.

Laboratory Technician
  • Conduct analysis of petroleum samples, compiling results and being responsible for following the standard operating procedures and controls
  • Preparation of samples for inspection, and perform other required lab analysis such as SQC and proficiency program samples
Oil & Petroleum Field Inspector

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Oil & Petroleum Field Inspector will perform the inspection and certification of products at on-site locations; perform minor lab analytical tests, and will assist the Operations Manager with client communication of operational details, results, and observations.
