Job Description
 
The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature. Candidate must be experienced with reading blue print and maintaining the following: Normet Transmixers, Altas Copco Jumbo and MacLean bolter, Kubota, Terx Crane, Generator's rolling stock equipment, Cat sked steer, JLG zoom booms, Ford F250 pickups, Monitou Forklift.
 
Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • Journeyperson level qualification (trade school or college diploma) – (preferred)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Basic literacy (read, write, basic math and read blue print) required
  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Service Type Common Core (or other provincial equivalent) (required)
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance and repairs to underground mining equipment, as listed above.
  • Ability to multi task and work effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to read, and understand Hydraulic/Electrical Schematics
  • Ability to use and understand Engine/Powertrain Diagnostic Software, both Handheld, and computer based.
  • Ability to use/understand parts and service manuals, able to make parts lists for repairs required and or use service manuals to assist in diagnostics, and proper repair procedures.
  • Ability to Service/Diagnose Diesel Engines of many types and makes
  • Ability to Service/Diagnose All Powertrain/Brake Components of Many types and makes
  • Familiar with underground Mobile equipment Braking regulations//testing and adjusting such components.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
  • Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve the problem.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
  • Comply with all Redpath and Owners safety regulations and procedures.
  • Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings - high level of alertness required.
  • Train and mentor new employees and/or apprentices.

  • Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor
  • Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e. PPE, lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
  • Ensure that workers are qualified and capable to safely performing the assigned work
  • Work in accordance with local legislation

Cagetender- RedLake, Ontario

Under the supervision of the Superintendent/ Shift Supervisor, the primary role of a Cagetender is operate mineshaft conveyances which may include skips and/or cages and other devices that are used to move workers and material within the mine shaft safely.
