The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institute, which offer undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and a wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are trained by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty’s Master’s and Ph.D. programs.
 
The School is accepting applications for one (1) replacement position. We are looking for candidates with expertise in the following areas: Financing for Development, Canada and the World, Globalization and Development, Project Management, Conflict and Development, Private Enterprise and Development, Quantitative Research Methods and Development. Expertise in Africa and/or the Middle East would be considered an asset. Priority will be given to candidates who can teach in French from the first year of employment. 
 
Duties:
 
  • Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Participating in academic and administrative activities
  • Other activities as specified in the collective agreement
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Hold a Ph.D. in any relevant field. Candidates who are close to completing a Ph.D. could be considered;
  • Demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching and research
  • Professional experience in development practice would be an asset.
 
Bilingualism:
The University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution, and all professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences must be actively bilingual (French and English). Active bilingualism is required at the time of hiring.
 
Terms and Salary:
This three-year contract will begin on July 1, 2021 and end June 30th, 2024 and is non-renewable. Salary scale for Replacement professors starts at $86,986 (for a full-time teaching workload).
