The Sr Manager IT will report directly to the Assistant General Manager and will be responsible for managing the department, technology planning, information systems and infrastructure, IT and information security. They will actively participate as a dynamic, progressive member of leadership team.
 
The role will be responsible for IT services across the country in all of our facilities and offices. They will also have requirements and obligations to Makita Japan (headquarters).
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Leads the development and implementation of the multiyear technology plan, including ways to identify and implement process improvements that drive quality, efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Advises on potential upgrades: Recommend software improvements, upgrades, and implement new features for optimal performance of company hardware and software to upper management and Makita Japan.
  • Develops a budget for departmental expenses and IT related expenses for all other departments and monitors IT related costs.
  • Oversees and determine timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages.
  • Develops, implements and provides proactive monitoring and maintenance on all IT systems including servers, hardware and software.
  • Monitors performance, IT and Information security, backup and recovery of the network and data.
  • Leads and schedules the activities of team members within the IT department, ensuring they trained and provided with the appropriate documentation and information to execute.
  • Ensure all IT infrastructure services, including network administration of servers, desktops, and communication systems, and projects are delivered effectively to all stakeholder and user groups across the country, in person and/or remotely.
  • Responsible and accountable for meeting Company and departmental objectives.
  • Provides formal and informal performance feedback, coaching and mentoring to all direct reports.
  • Participates in recruiting for department requirements.
  • Managing technology vendor relationships.
  • Performs other duties as required.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Diploma or degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of IT leadership and technical experience.
  • Leadership Skills: experience leading, coaching and/or mentoring.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of server administration (Windows 10), Office 365, HTTP, SSL, PC and Mac environments, HTML, CCS, Javascript, Mobile Device Management (MDM), AS400 platform and Apple OS is preferred.
  • IT security: ability to ensure best practices for IT and Information Security on networks, physical & virtual servers, including cybersecurity best practices both on premise and cloud-based storage.
  • Interpersonal Skills: to build strong business relationship and collaborate with others.
  • Communication skills: able to communicate both verbally and written in a clear and concise manner including group presentations.
  • Project management skills: process documentation and ensuring customer specific requirements as they relate to the job function.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Attention to Detail: Attentive to detail, highly organized and reliable with proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving skills: ability to analyse IT Metrix, and problem solve to resolve complex technology and systems-related problems.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

As a Factory Service Centre Manager-in-Training, you are responsible for supporting the manager with the daily operations and managing the Factory Service Centre in the absence of the Manger.
