SERVICE TECHNICIAN - VEHICLE FIRE SUPPRESSION TRAINEE

Levitt-Safety is currently recruiting a Vehicle Fire Suppression Technician trainee to train in the repair and maintenance of Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems, and other fire protection services. This position will be based out of the Sudbury location but will also involve remote service at additional customer locations including underground mine sites for extended periods of time.
 
This is an entry level position. We are willing to train the right candidate who is willing to grow and pursue a career in mobile fire protection systems.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Train in the inspection, maintenance and service of fire suppression equipment.  
  • Provide in shop support as required.
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory and all required tools.
  • Complete all applicable health and safety paperwork.
  • Accurate and timely completion of service paperwork.
  • Perform after hours and on call duties as required.
  • Other Duties as assigned.                     
     
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Prior experience working with vehicles is an asset.
  • Comfortable using technology such as iPads, cell phones and laptops.
  • Must be able to work out of town as required for extended periods up to 12 hours a day and overnight stays.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
  • Must successfully pass Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.
 
Physical requirements include:
 
  • Working in restricted work spaces and from ladders and walkways on large equipment.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions hot/cold.
  • Good hand/eye coordination & manual dexterity.
  • Prolonged sitting in vehicles, and driving times.
  • Lift and carry up to 50lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to work with a respirator and/or be on supplied air.
  • There will also be excessive noise from heavy machinery both mobile and stationary on some sites.
