The Social Services Program Supervisor shall administer all aspects of the Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Social Services. The Social Services Program Supervisor shall ensure the quality delivery of the following services: Child Welfare/protection, Addictions, Family Well Being Program, Mental Health Counseling, Recreation, Ontario Works – Employment Support and occasional / temporarily funded training positions. The Social Services Supervisor will also provide support, guidance, and assistance to Biigtigong Nishnaabeg community members and social services staff.
Summary of Duties:
- Ensure that the philosophy, policies and procedures mandated for social services are upheld in the day-to-day operation of the facility.
- Ensure an optimal level and quality of service is delivered by developing and implementing a short- and long-term plans for social services in consultation with the Health/Social Service Director.
- Develop and manage financial resources for social services programs by maintaining records, overseeing expenditures, seeking and obtaining available additional resources as needed.
- Ensure the development of new/current programs is consistent with community needs by monitoring and evaluating program goals and objectives, as well as identifying and responding to social service concerns.
- Provide overall leadership to social service staff, coordination of services, development, implementation and evaluation of programs.
- Perform all duties associated with the administration of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg program.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate must possess one of the following:
- A M.S.W. or M.A. in related field and registration as a Social Worker; or
- A Related Honours or bachelor’s degree and Registration as a S.W;
- Previous experience working in a First Nation community is an asset.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Must have at least 2 years supervisor work experience.
- Must have 2 years work experience in counseling.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Child and Family Services Act and the Band Representatives role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Requires a flexible work schedule (attending evening and/or weekend meetings and events).
- Valid Class “G” driver’s license.
