Sr. Maintenance Supervisor

Works under the general direction of the Senior Manager of Manufacturing and Facilities Operations and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the site’s facilities department. Supervise employees or external contractors who construct, maintain and repair utilities systems, buildings and equipment via the following trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air-conditioning, heating, painting and general maintenance.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Plan and coordinate large maintenance and construction activities with production schedules. Obtain quotes from external contractors for various projects or tasks; select specific contractor based on capability, price, schedule, etc.
  • Maintain current knowledge of city/state/federal regulations surrounding building construction and modification.
  • Ensure proper permits and other notification requirements are fulfilled prior to project initiation.
  • Oversee work completed by contractors and ensure quality of work, schedule and costs are in accordance with contract and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure preventative, periodic or special inspections to identify repair and maintenance work needed to prevent breakdowns of machinery is conducted as scheduled. Prioritize and respond to daily maintenance requests or equipment/machinery breakdowns.
  • Comply with OSHA and environmental regulations concerning air, water and waste; ensure all hazardous waste is collected and disposed of in accordance with state/federal standards.
  • Coordinate with environmental, health & safety personnel to schedule and implement plans or programs associated with environmental or safety related equipment and or processes.
  • Oversee personnel assigned to the general housekeeping tasks and ensure customary hygiene standards are maintained, inclusive of the employee break room and rest rooms.
  • Monitor plant, maintenance and utilities budgets; control inventory and supplies. Maintain floor plans, layouts and related documentation for the facility and its satellite locations.
  • Coordinate and interface effectively with external agencies/utilities in the event of power outages or other similar situations.
  • Maintain awareness of emergency evacuation and site disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintain properly trained staff to support the facilities functions in accordance with company policy and federal/state regulations. Maintain high standard of performance expectations from employees through appropriate evaluations and training such that the assigned functions demonstrate continuous improvement and compliance to standards.
  • Conduct regular meetings to inform employees of general activities, company and corporate related actions.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with/between functional groups, management, and external agencies to address problems and their resolutions.
 
Qualifications
 
  • Thorough knowledge of a specialized field such as building trades or construction required. Working knowledge of city/state/federal regulations concerning OSHA, environment or building codes as they relate to a production facility’s maintenance or modification. Bachelor’s degree in Business required; Bachelor’s in a related technical field preferred. Good oral and written communication skills needed.
  • 7 – 10 years of progressive experience in the facilities maintenance field.
