Supervisor, Mine

The purpose of the Supervisor Mine is to supervise the mine crew and ensure production targets and schedules are met as forecast. As Supervisor you follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Ensure that work areas are in compliance with all of Iamgold’s Health and Safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Acts in the applicable jurisdiction. Intervene as necessary, to ensure the safety of others in the workplace.  Provide safety leadership by always setting a good example. 
 
Provide front line direction to the mine crew.
 
  • Convey production goals, schedules and priorities to the mine crew.
  • Ensure that production and development targets are met.
  • Plan, coordinate and direct all work tasks of the contract and hourly workers.
  • Coordinate stopping, drilling, blasting, quarrying and loading activities.
  • Arrange for relief equipment when there is an equipment failure.
  • Ensure that contract support for the mine crew is available.
 
Manage the pit service crew.
 
  • Assist in hiring and training new mine employees.
  • Provide employees with clear work objectives and expectations of the production levels required.
  • Ensure the mine crews have the training tools and equipment in place to perform the work safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor performance, conduct job observations and provide coaching to employees.
  • Complete all time entry, vacation requests and scheduling.
 
Qualifications
 
What You Need to Succeed 
 
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • 2 years of mining experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for Mines and Mining Plants.
  • Solid working knowledge of open pit mining methods.
  • Knowledge of mine rescue techniques, WHIMS requirements, and Loss Control principles.

Junior Ground Control Engineer
  • Design and supervision of construction of geotechnical and hydrological structures such as foundations, slopes, excavations, diversion ditch, and dams;

To provide safe and cost-effective survey services, by way of design, plans, and measurement data that communicate critical mining instructions to operators and development results to engineers.

To provide administrative support and ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the mill office and related activities.

Road Maintenance Supervisor, Mine Operation

The purpose of the Mine Road Supervisor is to ensure all site service roads are maintained year round.
