POSITION OBJECTIVE
 
The Supplier Performance Manager will be responsible for initiating, leading, or supporting the strategy and execution of Supplier Performance to establish standard work, to develop the reporting and analytics to result in best in class supplier performance and availability, strong financial inventory performance and support key cross-functional initiatives.
 
The Supplier Performance Management team procures approximately 100 000 unique items to 5 DCs and 175 branches in Canada facilitating the flow of product from over 1200 vendors from across North America.

• Leads the strategy, execution and maintenance of Acklands Grainger’s supplier performance management
• Purchasing and Purchasing Operations Continuous Improvement
• Create, manage, or participate on project teams with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with expected deliverables
• Drive accountability with suppliers to ensure operational standards are met and exceeded according to supplier scorecard
• Document and share recommendations of corrective and progressive action to Supplier Non Compliances
• Work collaboratively with Product Management, Inventory and Transportation to escalate and action continuous improvement programs with AGI’s suppliers
• Educate and train internal and external stakeholders on key Supplier Performance processes, procedures, and initiatives; act as the SME of Acklands Grainger’s and the vendor’s supply chain
• Drives best in class service to end customers through supplier operational performance
• Ensures high availability to end customers through consistent On-Time shipping of purchase orders into distribution centers
• Responsible for consistent delivery of orders drop shipped directly from suppliers to end customers
• Leads efforts to improve productivity within Supply Chain by ensuring flawless inbound orders
• Execute strategy of ensuring suppliers are transmitting electronic trading documents successfully
• Driving reductions in supplier shipments that cause inbound receiving exceptions
• Builds a strong team through positive employee engagement and effective talent management
• Manage and lead team of 12 Supplier Performance Analysts
• Lead in the management of key processes and projects that have a significant impact on supply chain costs or performance.
• Decisions and actions made by this position have impacts on customer service, cost, and operations across the company including:
     ○ Customer service – decisions and actions made will impact customer satisfaction on availability of product and infusing new product into the Acklands Grainger network
     ○ DC Operations – decisions made will impact supplier shipments, line volume, delivery schedules, order size and frequency, labeling compliance, ASN accuracy, and packaging which have direct impact to labor and space costs at the distribution centres
     ○ Inventory Planning – decisions on the timing of large orders, lead time decisions and tradeoffs, and influencing the supplier to make accommodations to pack quantities affect the amount of inventory Acklands Grainger has to hold which has a direct correlation to inventory carrying costs
     ○ Transportation – decisions regarding order schedules and frequency impact cross-dock usage and trailer utilization affecting inbound transportation costs. Furthermore, influencing supplier decisions on DC locations and plant moves can have further ramifications to transportation costs
     ○ Product Management – decisions for and guidance to the suppliers and other Supply Chain Management departments must be weighed against additional supplier requirements that can raise product costs. The Supplier Performance Manager must make sure the best decision is made for the company as a whole

 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
 
• Completion of post-secondary degree, preferably in Business or equivalent business experience with a minimum 5-7 years of experience in Supply Chain
• Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills required
• Previous people leadership experience
• Demonstrates progression in level of responsibility throughout career
• Candidate should demonstrate potential for Senior Leadership positions
• Demonstrated customer service orientation
• Possess mature and professional demeanor appropriate for interaction with external suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Demonstrates supply chain experience working in partnership with Transportation, Warehousing, Purchasing, Supplier Management and Inventory Management
• Demonstrates capability to build relationships and lead effectively across functional business areas including Customer Service, Logistics, Product Management, Distribution Center Operations and IT to attain goals and drive business results
• Demonstrates capability to identify and champion correct course of action for the overall needs of the business over departmental goals
• A sense of urgency and the ability to deal with change and the shifting demands within the business environment
• Strong quantitative skills and ability to perform and manage analysis
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting aggressive timelines with limited direction
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to provide value added support services through inventory programs, processes, policies and initiatives
• Manage a high performance team of Supplier Performance Analysts and the ability to drive the team to meet organizational goals
• Support the development needs and growth of supply chain professionals within the organization
• SAP and SPS experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (or equivalent) functionality (Word, Excel, Access dB, PowerPoint) expected
