We are currently seeking a Senior Contaminated Sites Specialist to join our Pacific Region Environment and Water Practice which includes British Columbia and Yukon. You will join a group of scientists and engineers focused on providing high quality deliverables and innovation solutions to our clients. We have offices located in Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo and Whitehorse where you’ll be working with a cohesive team of contaminated sites professionals but with access to Tetra Tech’s broader global resources when necessary.
 
Our current Pacific Region based project portfolio focuses on contaminated site assessment and remediation, and we welcome applications from specialists in these fields. We are also interested in expanding the range of services we can provide to our existing clients and in expanding our client base. To that end, we also welcome applicants with other technical skills sets or specialties that would allow us to expand our local portfolio.
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Technical Guidance and Senior Reviewer
• Provide senior technical support, training and mentoring to our Pacific Region team
• Take a leadership role in our regularly held contaminated sites group meetings and inspire our team to high standards of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Deliver top-quality technical work on large, complex environmental projects
• Stay current on general trends in the technical field and market sector
• Project Management and Execution
• Work with the existing team in delivering winning technical proposals
• Lead the development of accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules and deliverables for high quality project execution
• Market and Business Development
• Identify and secure new business opportunities and marketing activities within the Pacific Region
• Solidify and develop Tetra Tech’s portfolio of projects throughout the Pacific Region by participating and leading business development activities
• Develop and maintain a presence as a practice leader in the industry through participation in professional and sector organizations
 
Qualifications:
 
• A Bachelors or Masters degree in an environmental discipline or environmentally-related engineering discipline. 
• A minimum of 15 years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience in a consulting engineering environment is considered an asset.
• Professional registration as P.Eng., P.Geo., R.P.Bio., or P.Ag. in BC and ability to register in other Canadian provinces and territories.
• Extensive knowledge of the BC Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR).
• A Contaminated Sites Approved Professional (CSAP) designation is required or the applicant should be eligible and committed to securing a CSAP designation.
• Experience in contaminant hydrogeology and/or risk assessment is considered an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, leadership and mentorship skills.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience mentoring and directing staff to execute work with high technical quality standards. Strong leadership skills and the desire to train, mentor and develop junior and intermediate team members.
• Several years of experience establishing and maintaining client relationships is a requirement paired with a record of successful business and market development activities.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build long-term, successful professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
• A good track record in Health and Safety management on projects.
• Travel will be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake occasional field assignments, generally within western and northern Canada and in accordance with company and local health authority requirements for COVID-19

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

This position joins a piping team that provides comprehensive multi-discipline design and engineering service to assist our heavy industrial clients in maintaining and upgrading their facilities, capital and maintenance, for single and multi-discipline engineering design projects.
