POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor - Crossing Guards, is responsible for the safety of children crossing the street at designated school crossings.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Controls traffic and obeys all regulations to ensure safe crossing of school children at designated roadways.
  2. Documents incidents and reports same to supervisor.
  3. Uses and wears all required safety equipment and clothing.
  4. Abides by Highway Traffic Act, Health and Safety Act and City policies and procedures.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Skills/Abilities:
 
  • Must be capable of understanding the Highway Traffic Act and written instructions and procedures
  • Must be able to stand outdoors for up to one and one half hours in any type of weather, and be physically capable of quick movement in case of emergency
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
 
  • Must successfully undergo a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Must successfully undergo a work fitness test as required by the Corporation
  • Must meet Ministry of Transportation Vision Standards with respect to visual acuity and horizontal visual field (‘G’ Class)
  • Must execute an employment contract
  • Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the City, as required
  • Must be available to work during the school day

 

Registered Nurse - POOL
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team, is responsible for providing a leadership role in the organization by supervising, implementing, and evaluating the Pioneer Ridge Home for the Aged’s operations and clinical programs.

Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor, assists in teaching, cooking, housekeeping, and laundry duties.

School Crossing Guard

Under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor - Crossing Guards, is responsible for the safety of children crossing the street at designated school crossings.

Primary Care Paramedic (POOL - District)
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent – EMS Operations, is responsible for performing patient assessment, treatment, and monitoring tasks, which include controlled medical acts while providing safe and timely transport in accordance with the applicable Acts.
