- Become familiar with all aspects of the Fatality Risk Management.
- Be proactive with respect to safety and help design and operate a site that is the safest possible, through input and thoughts shared with others.
- Conform to the critical control verification process on site.
- Attain triple zero, both individually and collectively within the pit and engineering group.
- Identify substandard conditions and practices, during pit tours and take appropriate corrective action.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety by reviewing existing engineering drill and blast designs and implementing new designs.
- Develop plans and designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to Company policies, procedures and standards.
- Promote and adhere to Company health, safety and environmental policies
- Responsible for pursuing continuous improvement of established drill and blast practices on-site by optimizing drill patterns, exploring new explosive options, monitoring and reinforcing drill and blast QAQC.
- Review parameters for controlling for blast vibration and overpressure. Review blast quality and follow up on community feedback. Provide support to Community Engagement Officer.
- Development and review of Drill & Blast designs in collaboration with short term mine planning team, Geotech team and geology team.
- Responsible for maintaining Blast Tracking Database with the view of using data to inform improvement practices.
- Identify and track key performance indicators to drive improvement of fragmentation, dilution performance and overall blast pattern performance.
- Interacts with department heads, technical services staff, contractors and other company personnel as required
- Requires good communication skills in order to align Operations and Technical Services personnel on drilling, blasting, planning and scheduling issues.
- Degree in Mine Engineering (or equivalent) with eligibility for P.Eng. registration with the PEO, may consider Engineer In Training.
- Four years Mine Engineering experience preferably with strong drill and blast optimization exposure.
- Previous leadership role would be an asset, not requirement.
- Moderate to Advanced skills in Deswik. Ability to visualize and work in 3-D.
- Ability to organize workloads and modify priorities in a dynamic fast-paced continuous production environment.

- This role is located at Hollinger Pit (an open pit mine), part of Newmont's Porcupine mine site located near Timmins, ON.
- In this role, you will work a 5x2 schedule. As such, if you do not live near the mine, we will ask you to relocate.
To process, compile and interpret a significant amount of geologic information being generated by the Borden exploration efforts. Work with contractors and work effectively and efficiently within the geology team and with other departments.
