COTTFN Justice Department is seeking a qualified, self-sufficient, and thorough researcher for immediate hire. The successful candidate will be expected to use extensive research methodologies to gather data, analyze the data, and present the findings, specific to the field of violence prevention, inclusive of sexual and gender-based violence. A strong candidate will have sound knowledge of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Final Report and the intersectionality of oppressive systems and justice.
 
Education
 
• Bachelor’s degree in research, economics, social-justice, or a related field, required
• Master’s degree preferred
 
Experience: This is not an entry-level position
 
• Extensive and proven experience in field of trauma-informed research
• Demonstrated experience in analyzing and identifying issues in an objective, evidence-based manner without injecting opinion or acting as an advocate
• Knowledgeable in various research and testing methodologies
• Apply ethical research practices in design of surveys, questionnaires, polls, interviews, etc.
• Experience using statistical analysis software
• Document, report, and present research findings to Council, and COTTFN community
• Identify patterns and present solution-focused recommendations
 
Skills
 
• Highly skilled in ability to interact with diverse populations (including gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, homeless and addicted individuals, people living with HIV/AIDS, people living with mental health issues, individuals from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds)
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong initiative and results-oriented
• Ability to work independently
 
Cultural/personality characteristics desired
 
• Knowledgeable in Anishinaabe way of life and COTTFN
