EDUCATION SERVICES ASSISTANT

The Education Assistant will be primarily responsible to support Wahta Mohawks Education and Employment/Training Services in the following areas, and will work collaboratively with the Education Services Manager:
 
1) Student Success:
• Establish and foster relationships with all nominal roll students and families.
• Create and implement specific tutorial programs for students as required.
• Develop and support parental engagement activities and community-based programming.
• Coordinate activities at Tsi Iontiatarorohkstha located at Glen Orchard Public School in collaboration with Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) and coordinate activities in the Indigenous Program at the local school.
• Attend the TLDSB Indigenous Education Committee meetings and other meetings/conferences as directed by Education Services Manager.
 
2) Mohawk Language
• Support the creation of new language resources for the community.
• Encourage and support language use in the provincial schools.
• Support the creation of Mohawk language resources and use in the community.
 
3) Employment and Training
• Support clients in developing career plans, resume and interviewing skills.
• Complete intake processes for individual and group training with Kagita Mikam.
• Assist individuals with employment searches.
• Create opportunities for members to become more aware of potential careers paths.
 
Skills and Knowledge Requirements: 
 
• Any of the following: Educational Assistant Diploma, Bachelor of Child Development, or Educational Support Diploma, Developmental Service Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Diploma, or Bachelor of Education.
• Knowledge in Kanienkeha:ka culture and history.
• Grant and funding proposal writing.
• Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office Apps.
• Well-developed organizational, communicative, interpersonal, time management and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be reliable and dependable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
 
Other Requirements:
 
• Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” license and access to a vehicle.
 
Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time position beginning immediately. Hourly wage will be based on qualifications and experience.

The Wahta Mohawks are seeking a qualified individual to fulfill a short-term role in developing and implementing a community-based cannabis education, awareness, and harm reduction plan.

Personal Care Worker

Reporting to the Senior Services Co-Ordinator, the person is responsible for providing care, support, assistance, and supervision to the Elders within the community of Wahta Mohawks.
