Wesdome Gold Mines has had over 30 years of continuous gold mining operations in Canada. The Company is 100% Canadian focused with a pipeline of projects in various stages of development. The Company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing 200,000+ ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec. The Eagle River Complex in Wawa, Ontario is currently producing gold from two mines, the Eagle River Underground Mine and the Mishi Open pit, from a central mill. Wesdome is actively exploring its brownfields asset, the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Quebec. The Kiena Complex is a fully permitted former mine with a 930-metre shaft and 2,000 tonne-per-day mill. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.
 
SUMMARY
 
The responsibility of the Mine Manager is to ensure the proper functioning of all the activities related to the Eagle River Mine operations and the technical services department. The Mine Manager strives to meet all the production key metrics in a safely manner. The Mine Manager works closely with the other departments such as: Health & Safety and Training, Environment, Maintenance, Human Resources, Administration and the Mill. This is a key leadership role that requires an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Using honest and open communication the Mine Manager will build trust and provide guidance and support to all employees to ensure established targets are met or exceeded. High standards, a strong drive for results, a strong desire for continuous improvement and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential to success in the role.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
• Provide high-energy leadership in fostering an environment that is committed to Zero Harm, personal respect and integrity, operational excellence and achieving above average results. Make sure workers are fully qualified for the work to perform. Make sure all incident and accident are fully investigated to the root causes and make sure the recommendations are applied.
• Lead day-to-day operations, including direct supervision of underground production & technical services teams, Human Resources, Health & Safety and administration to deliver the mine plan.
• Work with technical services groups to build short, middle and long terms plans (life of mine), operating and capital budgets in a timely manner that maximizes value consistent with corporate objectives.
• Lead and manage the operation to deliver the budget as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. Make recommendations to reduce costs by continually improve the execution of the plans.
• Provide input into and work with technical services groups for the planning, development and production of the mine to maximize value consistent with corporate objectives. Ensure the plans are achievable.
• Manage the implementation of engineering designs, all construction and projects relating to the improvement and/or modifications of all existing assets including the mine and all other infrastructures.
• Coach and motivate employees to ensure focused, high initiative teams with accountability for their actions and delivery of overall results including safety, production, budgets, company policies and behavior that is aligned to the company’s values.
• Develop employees to maximize contribution of the company and ensure a strategic succession plan is in place.
• Communicate and collaborate with peers and other teams throughout the company with the goal of implementing best practices and achieving superior results and encourage such behavior in team(s).
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including employment standards and applicable regulatory bodies, health, safety and environment and adherence to company policies.
• Establish and maintain good relations with the other departments, the community and other stakeholders.
• Represent the Company in relevant bodies such as the Ontario Mining Association.
 
REQUIREMENTS
 
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
• Minimum 10 yrs. experience in the operations of mines
• Extensive experience in underground narrow vein mining, hard rock mining
• Knowledge of Promine (Autocad), Datamine and Microsoft environment
• Superior leadership skills
• Strong analytical skills and business acumen
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Exposure to Risk Management and analysis

IT Analyst

This position is responsible for supporting end-users primarily at our Eagle River Mine Complex.

Junior Accountant

This position is accountable for supporting accounting processes as well as the processing of accounts payable in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures.

Senior Mine Geologist, Eagle River Mine
• Promote safe work practices and safety culture within a production-oriented environment.
• Maintain drill hole databases and monitor underground diamond drill programs.
• Supervise and participate in the selection of underground diamond drill targets.
Surface Maintenance (Hourly)

Ensure that all buildings, and infrastructures on Wesdome property, as well as roads, culverts, & bridges are properly maintained Work in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective manner.

Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible, as part of a team, for maintaining the equipment and mechanical systems of the Eagle River Mine site to ensure smooth and continuous operation.

Maintenance Planner
  • Reporting to the Maintenance Projects, Mobile & Mine Fixed Plant Superintendent
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety and environmental regulations and policies is of primary importance with this position.
Hoist Mechanic/Millwright

Reporting to the Eagle River Maintenance Planner or designate, the successful candidate will perform the maintenance and repairs of all surface, underground stationary equipment, long hole buggies, compressors rock breakers and pumps at the mine site.

Manager – Asset Management & Reliability

Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the Manger of Asset Management & Reliability will be an inspirational and innovative leader responsible and accountable for operational performance excellence in the Asset Management and Reliability Department.

Process Plant Maintenance Millwright (RED SEAL CERTIFCATION REQUIRED)
  • The Millwright is responsible for doing the maintenance of the milling operation equipment.
  • Reports to Lead hand Millwright and Mill General Foreman
Chief Mine Geologist, Eagle River Mine

The Chief Mine Geologist will be responsible and accountable for all work conducted by the Geology Department while ensuring the work is safe, cost effective and makes the most efficient use of manpower and materials.
