Wesdome Gold Mines has had over 30 years of continuous gold mining operations in Canada. The Company is 100% Canadian focused with a pipeline of projects in various stages of development. The Company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing 200,000+ ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec. The Eagle River Complex in Wawa, Ontario is currently producing gold from two mines, the Eagle River Underground Mine from a central mill. Wesdome is actively exploring its brownfields asset, the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Quebec. The Kiena Complex is a fully permitted former mine with a 930-metre shaft and 2,000 tonne-per-day mill. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.
 
SUMMARY
 
Reporting to the VP Exploration in our Toronto office, the successful candidate will have two main objectives; first, to provide oversight of the Company’s exploration activities, and second, to work directly with corporate development team and provide geological support and due diligence for potential property acquisition and M&A activities.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
• Provide expert geological evaluations and interpretations of current projects and external third-party properties and projects (i.e., due diligence and acquisition evaluations in coordination with Corporate development team).
• Ensure the effective geological support and guidance for exploration activities throughout the company.
• Undertake site-wide and third-party properties prospectivity assessments to evaluate gold endowment, discovery potential and geological controls on gold mineralization at all scales.
• Plan and execute regional greenfields and brownfields discovery programs on budget. Visit sites as required to provide hands-on guidance.
• Promote the implementation of effective safety, health and environment protocols throughout the exploration group through interaction with local and regional teams.
• Prioritize Company’s exploration portfolio, establish and implement exploration work in coordination with local teams.
• Design and implement QA/QC for Company’s exploration data.
• Ensure manpower, training and equipment is adequate to meet the Company’s exploration goals. Provide mentoring to local teams as required.
• Generate RFPs/contracts/agreements and liaise with, and supervise, contractors and consultants as appropriate.
• Management of community and government relations issues.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
• A recognized geoscience degree. Post graduate program considered an asset. Membership of a recognized professional organization (APGO or equivalent).
• Minimum 12 years experience in the exploration/mining industry with a strong background in Orogenic Gold deposits and similar mineralization systems in support of both Open Pit and UG asset development.
• Strong geostatistical skills and proficiency with computerized resource estimation tools - ability to work with geo-modelling software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, MapInfo, Autocad, etc.
• Ability to compile large data sets to interpret geology, mineralized zones and exploration potential.
• Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of a French as a second language is an asset.

IT Analyst

This position is responsible for supporting end-users primarily at our Eagle River Mine Complex.

Junior Accountant

This position is accountable for supporting accounting processes as well as the processing of accounts payable in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures.

Senior Mine Geologist, Eagle River Mine
• Promote safe work practices and safety culture within a production-oriented environment.
• Maintain drill hole databases and monitor underground diamond drill programs.
• Supervise and participate in the selection of underground diamond drill targets.
Surface Maintenance (Hourly)

Ensure that all buildings, and infrastructures on Wesdome property, as well as roads, culverts, & bridges are properly maintained Work in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective manner.

Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible, as part of a team, for maintaining the equipment and mechanical systems of the Eagle River Mine site to ensure smooth and continuous operation.

Maintenance Planner
  • Reporting to the Maintenance Projects, Mobile & Mine Fixed Plant Superintendent
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety and environmental regulations and policies is of primary importance with this position.
Hoist Mechanic/Millwright

Reporting to the Eagle River Maintenance Planner or designate, the successful candidate will perform the maintenance and repairs of all surface, underground stationary equipment, long hole buggies, compressors rock breakers and pumps at the mine site.

Manager – Asset Management & Reliability

Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the Manger of Asset Management & Reliability will be an inspirational and innovative leader responsible and accountable for operational performance excellence in the Asset Management and Reliability Department.

Process Plant Maintenance Millwright (RED SEAL CERTIFCATION REQUIRED)
  • The Millwright is responsible for doing the maintenance of the milling operation equipment.
  • Reports to Lead hand Millwright and Mill General Foreman
Chief Mine Geologist, Eagle River Mine

The Chief Mine Geologist will be responsible and accountable for all work conducted by the Geology Department while ensuring the work is safe, cost effective and makes the most efficient use of manpower and materials.
