- Completion of secondary school is usually required.
The Core tech is responsible for cutting diamond drill core using a rock saw and or manual core splitter, as well as bagging and tagging the drill core samples.
- Primary responsibility of Sample Preparation Technician is to perform sample preparation of underground drill core, chips and muck samples as well as other duties given by the Shift Crew Leader during the course of a shift. The Sample Preparation Technician follows the posted Chain of Command.
- Log in underground samples (Drill Core, Muck, Chip, Test Hole samples).Sample Receiving, Organizing and drying of samples, labeling sample bags
- Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems
- Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements in a ledger or computer system
- Prepare, key in, edit and proofread correspondence, invoices, presentations, brochures, publications, reports and related material from machine dictation and handwritten copy
- Open and distribute incoming regular and electronic mail and other material and co-ordinate the flow of information internally and with other departments and organizations
