Lake Shore Gold is located in Timmins, Ontario.
 
The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.
 
Job Description
 
In this role, you will be responsible for the day to day scheduling and control of the functional mine site electrical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner. Directs daily electrical operations ensuring full maintenance support for the mine operations. The General Foreman/Forewoman will demonstrate the core values of Safety Health and the Environment and Code of Conduct of Lake Shore Gold.
 
As part of your position, you may be required to execute and evidence the operation of internal controls. Details of specific internal controls under your responsibility will be provided by the Head of the department.
 
Job Details
 
Location Timmins West Mine, Timmins, Ontario.
Monday to Friday, 8 hour shifts
 
Responsibilities
 
Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Electrical Foreman/Forewoman will have the following responsibilities:
 
  • Ensures all electrical activities are in compliance with legislative, company and site regulations
  • Ensures compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Develops and implements time schedules, work schedules, material requirements and control mechanisms required to structure and supervise the site electrical operations
  • Ensures production goals and objectives are met
  • Ensures systems are in place to effectively monitor electrician’s and apprentice’s performance, act as a coach and provides training and leadership to the electrical group
  • Ensures all electricians and apprentices have the required training as per legislative and Company requirements
  • Ensures employees are trained before performing the work
  • Maintains site electrical infrastructure and electrical hoisting equipment as per regulations
  • Performs periodical and scheduled inspection programs to maintain electrical assets and infrastructure according to established mine maintenance and engineering standards and keep them in a good condition
  • Inspects all work and requests corrective actions
  • Manages employee performance and adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures on site with the assistance of the HR
  • Keeps a pulse of the workforce to maintain positive employee attitude and participation
  • Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to Lake Shore Gold
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement
  • Performs annual departmental budgets
  • Special projects as may be assigned from time to time
 
Qualifications
 
  • Minimum ten years related mining experience with three to five years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Licensed Industrial Electrician and full technical training including trouble shooting, plc programming, and regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate, coach, and motivate
  • Strong leadership skills
