The business area innovates for sustainable productivity in surface and underground mining, infrastructure, civil works, well drilling and geotechnical applications. Principal product development and manufacturing units are located in Sweden, the United States, Canada, China and India.

The market

The mining sector is a key customer segment of the Mining and Rock Excavation Technique business area, accounting for about 60% of annual business area revenues. The applications include production and development work for both underground and open pit mines as well as mineral exploration and geotechnical drilling.

 
The other key customer segment is construction, which represents more than a third of annual revenues. Underground drill rigs are used for tunneling while surface drill rigs are used in various infrastructure and construction projects.
 

Mining companies and contractors are vital customer groups for aftermarket products such as maintenance contracts, service and parts, as well as consumables and rental.
