WHAT IS VICTIMS SERVICES?
 
Victim Services is a community response program that provides immediate, short term crisis intervention services to persons affected by crime.
 
Victim Services Worker provides emotional support, practical assistance, and information about victimization and refers to long-term services.
 
Victim Services is an integral part of a continuum of programs and services that addresses client’s needs. We work in partnership with police and other emergency services.
 
 
WHO IS A VICTIM?
 
Anyone whose life has been affected by trauma, tragedy or disaster, regardless of severity. Someone whose personal rights have been violated by criminal, violent or aggressive acts.
 
Family and friends of persons who have been injured or killed as a result of a crime. Someone who has viewed a violent or traumatic incident.

 
GOALS & OBJECTIVES
 
• Lessen the impact of being victimized
• Help to quickly return their lives to a desired degree of stability
• Facilitate referrals to appropriate community resources

• Sexual Assault
• Domestic Violence
• Elder Abuse
• Suicide
• Death Notification
• Homicide
• Break & Enter
• Robbery
• Other personal crisis, etc.
 
 
VICTIM QUICK RESPONSE PROGRAM (VQRP)
 
The VQRP is available to provide timely assistance to victims of violent crimes who cannot afford services to address their immediate needs.
 
The program provides financial assistance for:
• Short term immediate counseling services
• Funeral expenses for victims of homicide
• Emergency accommodation and meals
• Crime scene cleanup
• Emergency home repairs
• Transportation costs
• Emergency care of a child or elderly person
