MIRARCO is moving to the Cliff Fielding Research, Innovation and Engineering Building

Jan 13, 2021

MIRARCO (Mining Innovation Rehabilitation and Applied Research Corporation) is moving its main offices to the second floor of Laurentian University’s Cliff Fielding Research, Innovation and Engineering Building.  MIRARCO was established in 1998 as a not-for-profit research arm of Laurentian University and since its inception has developed over 100 HQPs (Highly Qualified Persons) and managed over $100 million in projects.

This move provides an opportunity to evolve the mandate of MIRARCO to support efforts that build Laurentian University as Canada’s Mining University.

In the fall of 2019, Jennifer Abols was appointed as MIRARCO’s President & CEO, as well as the Executive Director for Laurentian University’s Goodman School of Mines. Abols is the first person to hold both positions concurrently. During her first year Abols focused her efforts on aligning MIRARCO with industry needs, increasing awareness of MIRARCO as the partner-of-choice for applied research in mining and forging stronger relationships with partners and stakeholders.

“I am very excited about our move to the Cliff Fielding Research, Innovation and Engineering Building.  Moving our main office to Laurentian’s Engineering and Innovation space will allow us to interact and better collaborate with faculty and students and deliver innovative technologies and applied solutions to problems faced by industry.” - Jennifer Abols, President & CEO, MIRARCO
