May 8, 2015

"The Sherman Mine, Temgami, Ontario, officially dedicated on September 5th, 1968, is a joint venture between Dominion Foundries and Steel, Limited (Dofasco) of Hamilton, Ontario and the Tetapaga Mining Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, Cleveland, Ohio.

The mine has been built to provide Dofasco, who owns 90% owner of the mine, with a steady supply of Canadian Iron ore. The operation and management of the mine is by Cliffs of Canada, Limited.

The mine is dedicated to the memory of Frank Albert Sherman (1887-1967), a pioneer of the Canadian Steel industry. Mr. Sherman was Chairman of the Board of Dofasco at the time of his death in 1967." (Preface from brochure)
