To support our recent and ongoing growth, JLR’s team is looking to add Architectural Technologists with 10-15 + years of related experience to augment and round out our team. We’re looking for talented and creative people to support both business development and delivery activities, and proven or emerging leaders to develop and manage our clients and projects.

Roles and Responsibilities
 
  • Work directly with architects, engineers and technologists as part of an integrated multidisciplinary project team at all stages, from concept design to completion;
  • Prepare bids, and construction drawings and documents for industrial and commercial projects;
  • Discussing, developing, and communicating ideas with verbal and graphic clarity utilizing a design process and collaboration model that includes a wide range of tools, such as drawing/sketching, modelling, diagramming, and 3-D work;
  • Assist architects, engineers and technologists with project execution during all project phases;
  • Coordinate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects;
  • Leader in the architectural technologist group and mentorship of junior staff; and
  • Travel between JLR offices and project sites across Ontario/Canada, as required, to meet the needs of various projects.
 
Skills and Qualifications
 
  • Graduate of an Architectural Technology program at a recognized Ontario post-secondary school;
  • OAAS designation or eligibility for designation;
  • 10-15 + years of experience working within an architect’s office;
  • Proficiency in latest version of AutoCAD Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Highly proficient in Revit;
  • Sketchup experience would be considered an asset;
  • Strong conceptual design skills in exploring innovative approaches;
  • Ability to discuss, develop and communicate ideas with verbal and graphic clarity;
  • Sound understanding of drawing principles and standards;
  • Working knowledge of local building codes, standards, and building structures;
  • Possess a full understanding of building science, construction materials, construction methods, and architectural detailing;
  • Experience in contract administration
  • Organized with the ability to manage time, deliverables, budgets, and personnel;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work within a team environment and work within a project team made up of architects, engineers, and planners; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of contract drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for municipal and land development projects, as well as commercial and industrial site developments.
