Emerson Canada has an opening for an Associate, Innovation & Commercialization. This is an intrapreneurial role where you will be responsible for working with colleagues domestically and abroad to lead and support a variety of programs that drive new sales.
 
This is a highly ambiguous role, which will require exceptional degrees of comfort in risk-taking/ learning from failure, and the ability to ‘create something from nothing’. This is primarily a business-oriented role which may require you to learn technical skills as you go.
 
Successful candidates will be able to navigate a vast network of internal and external stakeholders to support revenue generating activities, devise commercial strategies to effectively compete in a data-driven world, and work through a series of challenging high-risk innovation projects.

Innovation
 
  • Requires an intrapreneurial, “get it done mindset” to build out a revenue generating, and profitable Outcome-Based Services model leveraging customer data
  • Own the lifecycle of data from collection, coordination, analysis, insights, to prescriptive action
  • Must feel comfortable managing a high degree of ambiguity to make sense of unstructured data
  • Will be involved in cold calling and securing customer demonstration projects
  • Lead customer-innovation programs from conception to cash by engaging with end users, facilitating discovery sessions, synthesizing feedback and using a series of “build/ borrow/ partner/ buy” mechanisms to create solutions that address their needs
 
Commercialization
 
  • Respond to Customer RFIs, RFPs, RFQs related to data services
  • Understand and synthesize market trends, voice of customer, and changes in the ecosystem with a view to developing new products, solutions, services and business models
  • Support the continual evolution of Emerson’s commercial strategy (customer segments, sales channels, product lines, etc.) and develop new capabilities and internal structures
  • Support the implementation and cultural adoption of innovations, innovation processes, and outcomes within the organization
 
Summary of Key Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, or a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) field 
  • 3+ Years of progressive experience in an entrepreneurial corporate or start-up environment  
  • Ability to work well across functional lines and business units in North America
  • The incumbent will be required to communicate with, and deliver executive-level presentations; a sense of strong leadership, communication and presentation skills is required
  • A strong comfort level in customer and partner engagement is required
  • This project-based role will require a proactive, results-oriented, and motivated self-starter, who can think strategically and act tactically to take on challenging assignments
  • Experience leading or working directly on large scale programs an asset
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite of tools
  • Valid G Class License and access to a reliable vehicle to travel between satellite locations
 
Working Conditions:
 
This position will be based from Emerson Office in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and travel to the United States. There is approximately 20% local travel expected within Ontario. Occasional travel to job sites is required, personal protective equipment will be provided.
