To support our recent and ongoing growth, JLR’s team is looking to add a Civil Technologist with 5 – 10 years of related experience to augment and round out our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of contract drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for municipal and land development projects, as well as commercial and industrial site developments.

Roles and Responsibilities
 
  • Working directly with engineers and technologists across JLR’s various office locations as part of an integrated team;
  • Preparation of civil design drawings and details using AutoCAD and Civil 3D;
  • Assisting engineers and technologists with project execution during all project phases;
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines, architects and sub-consultants on multidisciplinary projects; and
  • Communicating effectively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
 
Skills and Qualifications
 
  • Civil or Construction Engineering Technology diploma;
  • 5 – 10 years of relevant experience;
  • OACETT designation preferred or eligibility for designation as a C.E.T. or C. Tech;
  • Experience and understanding of the fundamentals of AutoCAD and Civil 3D;
  • Knowledge of civil design principles, including (but not limited to) site grading, municipal infrastructure (water, sanitary, storm), road design, subdivision design, stormwater management;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard engineering and construction principles, practices and techniques;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction products, materials and equipment;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations for construction projects;
  • Knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings (OPSD);
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and interpersonal;
  • Strong organizational, administrative, observational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail;
  • Ability to produce quality deliverables and to monitor project tasks;
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, both independently and in a team environment; and
  • Valid Class driver’s license.
