Emerson Canada has an immediate opening for an Industrial Energy Development Specialist. This individual will support building, leading and managing new Gas Compression opportunities that promote Emerson Vilter’s presence in Renewable Gas, Fuel Gas Boosting, Combined Heat & Power, Liquified Natural Gas, Hydrogen, etc. applications within the U.S and Canada.
 
The successful candidate will be Customer Focused, Action Oriented, able to Communicate Effectively and have Courage to Drive Growth in these markets. This role will demonstrate Vilter’s experience, technical expertise and dedication to partner with customers and solve their most challenging compression needs.

Major Areas of Accountability:
 
Sales & Growth
 
  • Support Sales & Application Engineering teams to execute Sales Plans to exceed defined revenue and gross margin objectives
  • Work closely with End-users, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firms and consulting firms to develop, propose and close on gas compression opportunities
  • Hunt for new customers, perform market & customer development activities to secure new opportunities while deeply expanding into existing customers
  • Manage and maintain the ecosystem
  • Deeply understand our customer’s needs and applications to provide them the most efficient an effective solution
  • Expand upon Vilter’s project scope on each opportunity; work with our Automation Solutions colleagues to drive additional scope
  • Help prepare proposals with the team, co-present technical proposals to customers, support negotiations to close opportunities
  • Represent Emerson at external events, association meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Orchestrate the execution of customer projects from “quote to cash”
 
Development
 
  • Monitor trends and competitive landscape in the industry, and develop strategies to continue to position Emerson as a leading trusted advisor in the ecosystem
  • Drive cross-BU and cross-platform synergies to maximize Emerson share of wallet
  • Build Gas Compression Business in Canada: identify and execute new growth/ business development opportunities (new markets, business models; build/ borrow/ partner/ buy)
 
Internal Execution
 
  • Manage a lead funnel using the designated CRM
  • Work closely with all cross functional departments to ensure projects are delivered with the quality of care consisted with Emerson’s values
 
Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • P.Eng. (or EIT working towards a P.Eng.)
  • Four to six (4-6) years in the industrial space (compression, applications engineering, or sales experience preferred) 
  • Experience with gas compression equipment is a bonus
  • Possess market knowledge in working with EPC firms
  • Able to take complex solutions and convey them in easy to understand concepts
  • Ability to work across functional groups and influence team members
  • Understand financial calculations and commercial concepts to negotiate and close on opportunities
  • You show a tremendous amount of initiative in tough situations and are exceptional at spotting and seizing opportunities
  • Strong communication skills, and adaptable styles to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders
 
Working Conditions:
 
You must be eligible to work in Canada and travel to the United States.
