Supply Chain Superintendent

Barrick is looking for a Supply Chain Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and they will be responsible leading the Supply Chain function for the mine site. The Supply Chain Superintendent will be responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of procurement, contracting, warehousing, inventory control and logistics functions for the Hemlo Mine.      
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Builds strategic partnerships with local and international vendors to ensure adequate supplies of raw materials, machinery, parts, and finished items required to meet short term and long-term project requirements.  
  • Responsible for sourcing and developing new suppliers both international and local.   
  • Work with Group Supply Chain to develop procurement strategies and based on current and long-term pricing trends for all project commodities.
  • Responsible for negotiating contract pricing, terms and conditions for all suppliers/vendors.
  • Oversees and manages procurement contracts for Hemlo
  • Oversees inventory management (warehousing, transportation, customs, import/export, shipping, receiving) directing the flow of raw materials, machinery, parts, and finished goods ensuring optimum flow required to reach productivity/production efficiencies while maintaining cost containment measures and social responsibility requirements.  
  • Builds strategic partnerships with customers (internal departments) ensuring acceptable service levels adhering to set operation/project schedules.
  • Manage cost reductions relating to freight, warehousing, distribution, etc.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
  • Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
  • Know and understand company code of ethics policy, supporting and educating subordinates and employees in regard to the policy as appropriate.
  • Responsible for monitoring controls within respective departments ensuring all company property is adequately protected and inventoried.
  • Provide feedback to superiors on cost and cost trends through reporting requirements.
  • Establish departmental and employee performance drivers by which to determine individual and team results (i.e.  Purchasing metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of roles and responsibilities, personal development goals). 
  • Provides continual training, guidance, and mentoring of direct reports and employees ensuring all are adequately equipped, trained, knowledgeable, and able to carry out respective job requirements to reach project objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring all employee and company policies and procedures are maintained and enforced within area of responsibility. Perform other duties as assigned and required. 
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related field.  
  • Minimum 8+ years relevant qualifications / experience in Contracts & Procurement as well as Inventory, Warehousing, and Logistics,
  • Previous mining, energy, or oil and gas experience strongly preferred.  
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a supply chain team
  • Excellent knowledge of end-to-end supply management processes including competitive bidding, contract management and supplier performance management. 
  • Knowledgeable in SAP, Ariba and Hyperion
  • PMAC / SCMP / CIPS certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively plan, execute and deliver.  
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills & the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Highly driven and self-motivated, strong negotiation skills, conflict resolution, able to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Proficient computer skills with advance skills in MS Office applications, specifically Excel.  
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills  
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy 
  • Excellent organizational, time management and office management skills 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global team of Supply Chain professionals, as well as independently  
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills, with a courteous and customer service focus 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Capability to multi-task, self-manage and self-motivate

Underground Surveyor

The Surveyor is accountable for supporting the Williams U/G by planning ahead and providing operations with direction and prints in all active headings. 

Underground Mine Geologist

As a member of the Technical Services and Mineral Resource Management team, the successful candidate will report to the Senior Mine Geologist and work either an 8:6 roster resident in town, or a 14:14 roster with camp accommodation and meals provided in a camp type environment.

Temporary Journeyman Electricians

The Temporary Journeyman Shift Electrician is accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrician is responsible for maintaining all surface and underground electrical systems in accordance to Company Standards, Ontario Hydro standards, Electrical Code, CSA standards and Federal, Provincial, and Company Safety regulations.

Underground Project Engineer

The Underground Project Engineer is Responsible for generating all UG projects documentation and coordinating all technical activities on assigned projects and ensure effective communication and coordination between all project participants.

Mid-Term Planner

Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Mid-Term Planner is responsible for all mid-term mine planning activities.

Core Technician - 1 Year Fixed Term

Reporting to the Core Technician Coordinator, your primary duty will be to provide support in maintaining continuous operation of logging activities.

Controller

Ensure all programs, personal actions and approaches support Barrick’s goals for safety and sustainability.  Act as a safety champion and constantly apply the principals and spirit of Courageous Safety Leadership and Courage to Care.

Temporary Gas Fitter - G1

Ensure all programs, personal actions and approaches support Barrick’s goals for safety and sustainability.  Act as a safety champion and constantly apply the principals and spirit of Courageous Safety Leadership and Courage to Care.

Automation Mining Engineer

Accountable for the support, development, improvement, and reliability of the various facets f the mobile, exploration, development, fixed plant automation systems in a safe, productive, and cost-effective manner.
