Health Care Coverage
 
  • Ontario Telemedicine Network 
Students can connect with their family doctor or specialist via a confidential and secure video conference right on campus, located within Student Success Services.
 
  • OHIP
The Ontario Health Insurance Plan - you must present your OHIP card at each visit to the Campus Health Centre. The Campus Health Centre accepts all other provincial health cards (also to be presented at each visit).
 
  • International Health Care Plan (Canadore)
Guard.me International Insurance is an award-winning provider of international student health insurance. https://www.guard.me/canadore
 
  • University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP - Nipissing)
The University Health Insurance Plan is for all international students (excluding IELP students) and accepted by the Health Centre. www.uhip.ca
 
Student Health Plan 
 
  • Who is covered?
Registered full-time students are automatically enrolled in the health plan effective September 1 or January 1, depending on which semester you begin your studies. 
 
If you withdraw from all classes and thereby are no longer a student of Canadore College, the Health Plan will no longer cover you effective immediately upon your withdrawal date.
 
 
On-Campus Health Centre
 
The Campus Health Services provides students with convenient access to a wide array of medical services including: illness/primary and sexual health, immunizations, first aid and sutures, communicable disease screening, TB testing and disease prevention.
 
We have a physician, nurse and medical laboratory services on site!
 
 
On-Campus Dental Clinic
 
Canadore College’s on-campus dental hygiene clinic is run by Dental Hygiene faculty, staff and students and offers a variety of services to patients:
 
  • Free dental cleaning for everyone above the age of three
  • Referrals to medical doctors and dentists
  • Smoking cessation
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Mouth guards
  • Full oral examination (hard & soft tissue/teeth & gums)
  • Nutritional counselling
  • Radiographs and duplication of radiographs
  • Professional teeth whitening

 

Light Therapy Lounge
 
The Light Therapy Lounge, equipped with specialty daylight spectrum lighting and lamps, is designed to help combat health challenges like seasonal affective disorder, general lack of energy, depression and insomnia.

Lead - Indigenous Poverty Reduction Education Program (IPREP)
  • Responsible for project management support to the Manager of Community Based and Contract Training by using the Client Impact Model to implement the project
  • Establish community out-reach and act as the primary liaison from the IPREP between the College, First Nation Communities, and employers
TECHNOLOGIST – DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAM
  • Supervise and guide students in the Dental Hygiene program to meet the learning outcomes of skills and assessment courses in a clinic setting
  • Plan, organize, and conduct demonstrations, explaining correct procedures, skills, and theoretical principles
GENERALIST, ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT & TALENT MANAGEMENT

Reporting to the Director, Organizational Development & Talent Management (ODTM), the Generalist is accountable for providing a range of human resources functions supporting the College’s strategic plan and the implementation of short and long-term projects.

Technician – Dental Hygiene Program
  • Collaborate with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment
  • Work with community agencies and dental offices to recruit patients for student clinical labs
Professor, Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program
  • Deliver lessons covering Level 1  introductory level curriculum to Pre-Apprenticeship students over an eight-week period
  • Teach theory in class and practical projects in the Commerce Court Campus lab
