“Cerro Verde Mine, Quebrada Linga Tailings Storage Facility, Partnership between Owner and Engineer of Record to Achieve Robust Design and Construction of Starter Dam and Subsequent Operational Excellence”
This webinar summarizes the collaborative design and construction process of a new tailings storage facility at the Cerro Verde mine that took place from 2008 to 2015. The close partnership between the designer/engineer of record Stantec (formerly MWH), the mine owner and operator Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A.A., and its majority shareholder Freeport-McMoRan Inc. facilitated a robust design and efficient project execution. They continue to partner on the operational construction to rigorously achieve design expectations.
About the Speaker:
James Obermeyer has managed numerous tailings storage facility projects involving the full life cycle of the mine including site selection, scoping level studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction management, commissioning and start-up, operations, closure planning and implementation, and post-closure monitoring.
