Making open-pit mining more efficient and continuous
The only global in-pit crushing and conveying focused event of its kind, IPCC 2022 is the sixth edition of a hugely successful conference series.
Building on a strong event in Chile in 2018, IPCC 2022, in Mexico, will once again provide a forum for high-level networking and discussions on IPCC in all its varied forms. This includes high angle conveyors, to semi-mobile and fully-mobile crushing and sizing stations, to IPCC-related systems relating to mining waste management, as well as heap leach material stacking.
The event continues to attract all the major equipment OEMs designing these solutions, mining companies that have seen the benefits of employing this mining technique, and the service companies ensuring all pieces of the IPCC puzzle work in harmony. They will come together in a stellar program that looks at practical examples of how the technologies and solutions have been implemented and the impact of the installations.
Taking place at the Hyatt Zilara, in Cancun, Mexico, the 2-day event will bring together IPCC thought leaders in a relaxed setting where discussions can be had, cocktails can be drunk, and deals can be discussed and (hopefully) signed!

Characterizing Hydrocarbon Reserves in East Africa and Indian Ocean Margins Workshop
Maputo, Mozambique
Due to the ongoing global health concerns of the COVID-19 virus, the ‘Characterizing Hydrocarbon Reserves in East Africa & Indian Ocean Margins Workshop’ is rescheduled to 19 – 20 April, 2021. We appreciate your continued support and understanding. Please do not hesitate to Anneke de Klerk at aklerk@seg.org for any further questions.
The workshop will address questions about maximizing the resource potential of the Indian Ocean basins through geoscience and the integration of multi-domain data.
Exploration activity and development investment continue to increase around the western margins of the Indian Ocean. The recent announcement of the development of major fields offshore Mozambique demonstrate the commercial potential of the region and will stimulate further effort to exploit this margin.
The Rovuma basin in Tanzania and Mozambique demonstrates world-class reserves exist in the Indian Ocean margin.
What lessons can we learn from today’s discoveries that will further the exploration potential along the Indian Ocean Margins?
What lessons can we learn from the characterization of these new reserves?
What can be done to increase understanding of these reserves and improve production efficiency?
How can geophysics help manage uncertainty during the E&P lifecycle?
What new ways of integrating and analyzing data will enable real time decision makers to improve efficiency and optimize cost?
The goal of this workshop is to integrate findings and enable optimization of exploration and development in the western Indian Ocean to maximize E&P potential. Our aim is to share knowledge between existing operators, new players, young professionals and students.
Organizing Committee
Committee Co-Chair: Malcolm Francis, Schlumberger
Committee Co-Chair: Augusto Macuvele, INP
Committee Co-Chair: Marco Marchesini, ENI
Achimo Mussa, Center of Excellence for Oil and Gas

Who should attend?
The workshop targets geoscientists, decision makers, and investors interested in developing their understanding of frontier exploration and new field development across the western margins of the Indian Ocean. Providing a forum for specialized presentations and discussions across the range of proposed workshop topics offers a unique opportunity to obtain deep insights into the opportunities, challenges, and solutions required to explore for and develop new reserves along the margin.
Workshop format
The format of the workshop will feature presentations by invited key experts who will share their experiences. The workshop will provide a unique opportunity for open and extended discussions among the participants.
Eight sessions (two days). We will aim for one keynote speaker per session with a closing session at the end of the workshop to serve as the outlook going forward. The oral presentations are comprised of 20-minute talks followed by five minutes of Q&A. After each session, a 30-minute discussion session is planned. The objective of this session is to allow participants to discuss in detail and learn from each other what has worked for them and debate the issues and challenges facing them during their daily workflows. Session chairs will also serve as discussion leaders during the 30 minutes.
Poster presentations are welcome to give ample time to the delegates to discuss the poster topic with the author(s). Posters will be available for viewing in the workshop room during coffee breaks and afternoon free time following each session. Students are encouraged to submit poster presentations for the workshop.
