Guest country: Germany

Exponor 2022 seeks to constitute a new milestone in commercial relations between Chile and the greatest economic power in Europe. Germany has been designated as the 'Guest Country' of the next version of the international exhibition to be held in Antofagasta, a new step that is part of the Cooperation Agreement signed by the Chilean and German governments in 2013 for collaboration in the sector of mining and raw materials.

In this sense, it is important to remember the role that the German country plays in the international economy and the contribution that its participation can project for our country.

Germany has become the fourth world economic power, only behind the United States, China and Japan. It is one of the three countries that export the most in the world, whose participation percentage in the industry is almost 40%, where products such as automobiles and auto parts, machinery, chemical, electronic, optical and pharmaceutical products stand out.

According to the IMF, its GDP per capita is US $ 50,639, ranking among the richest countries in the world, according to the World Bank. Along these lines, it is the most open economy of the G7 countries, based on the relationship between foreign trade and gross domestic product (GDP). The foreign trade rate, that is, the sum of imports and exports (goods and services) divided by GDP and multiplied by one hundred, is 84.4%. As a comparison: that of the United States is 26.7%.

Technological development

Germany has an industrial production that represents 22.9% of the total gross added value (the highest of the G7 countries). The most important sectors are: vehicle manufacturing, electrical industry, machinery manufacturing and chemicals.

The heart of its economy are small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), defined as enterprises with an annual turnover of less than 50 million euros and a staff that does not exceed 500 employees. 99.6% of German companies belong to this category. More than a thousand of them are "hidden champions": leaders in world markets little known to public opinion.

This was confirmed by the Minister Counselor of the German Embassy in Chile, Peter Sauer, during his participation in the latest version of Exponor, stating that "from our mining tradition we have developed many medium and small companies that are often world leaders in important aspects and relevant to mining. Our companies have a lot of expertise in Industry 4.0, the intelligent management of water and energy resources and the design of highly efficient processes, "he said.

Finally, it stands out as the leading country as a place for international trade fairs. Two thirds of the world's most important trade fairs take place in Germany: the approximately 150 international trade fairs and exhibitions attract around 10 million visitors per year.
