Sawmill Hydraulics
Event Details
LEVEL II
5 DAY
INSTRUCTOR-LED COURSE

Learn to:

Use complex schematics as analysis tools
Adjust correct pump compensator, relief valve settings
Verify accumulator precharge settings
Measure proportional and servo valve drive signals
Sort out mechanical versus electrical system faults
Diagnose electro-hydraulic pressure and flow valves

In this course, tradespersons and maintenance team leaders train in the maintenance and troubleshooting of sawmill hydraulic systems. This course includes specially prepared learning exercises, Live Schematics, and simulations from typical sawmills.

Drawing on materials from our courses, How to Maintain and Troubleshoot Hydraulic Systems and also Advanced Hydraulics Troubleshooting and Motion Control, participants learn to maintain systems for reliability. We teach a method of analysis for determining electrical versus mechanical faults, as well as our Ten Step Troubleshooting Process (TSTP). Schematic reading and safe work practices are core topics throughout.

Hands-on project work on our training panels is combined with safe hydraulics testing and adjustment procedures for your mill. Students bring hydraulic fluid samples from their systems for particle sizing and contaminant identification work on our digital microscope. All of the senses are engaged for a complete and in-depth learning experience.
