INSTRUCTOR-LED COURSE
This course is designed to advance a plant technician's knowledge and skills in the use of the ControlLogix PLC platform. How and why a well-built and programmed system performs as it does is explored through experimentation in a controlled lab environment.
Participants will learn to work with complex data types and instructions. A series of analog projects will be completed with the I/O panels to increase comfort and familiarity with analog cards and settings.
Unique features based around internal messages and PLC to PLC communications will be covered using Ethernet and ControlNet protocols
This course is taught using a RSLogix 5000 software, simulation environments and with ControlLogix PLC hardware experiment stations with I/O panels.
TAGS AND DATA TYPES
Objective: Explain data types and tag standards
Activity: Set up for logging and average plant data throughout the day
CONTROLLER AND MODULE FAULTS
Objective: Differentiate between major faults and minor clear/solve faults
Activity: Apply I/O Diagnostics and Configure a Fault Alarm Routine
COMMUNICATIONS
Objective: Identify and Test PLC Communications Schemes
Activity: Build a complete ControlNet Network and Use Produced and Consumed Tags
STATUS FLAGS AND SYSTEM VALUES
Objective: Interpret programs references and parameters that access controller objects
Activity: Use the WALLCLOCKTIME Object to Trigger Time and Date Based Events
ADVANCED PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS
Objective: Interpret instructions that handle data files, data shifting and program controls.
Activity: Set task priorities and scheduling. Build a simple function block program
ANALOG I/O PROCESSES
Objective: Configure and interpret analog rungs and modules
Activity: Set Up for 4-20mA, 1 - 5 VDC, and 0 - 10 VDC I/O with scalar values
