The World Congress:
Adapting to our changing world

Originally, the World Congress was created to serve as a global forum for occupational health and safety experts and thought leaders to have a platform to share, educate and discuss with their international counterparts. Since its inception in 1955, the world of work has evolved and changed significantly.

The theme of the XXII World Congress reflects the fact that, today, the world is highly interconnected. This connectivity has been facilitated and accelerated through mechanisms such as global supply chains and technologies, which allow rapid exchange of data, information, processes and practices while creating challenges and opportunities to protect security and safety. workers' health.

While it is true that this issue is still relevant, we are now facing a public health crisis that is changing the way we live and work: COVID-19. And just as we are all adapting to this new and changing reality today, our plans for the XXII World Congress have also had to adapt.

First, we made the decision to postpone it to the new dates of September 19-22, 2021. Now, we are exploring various virtual options that will expand the Congress programming that we will be offering in Toronto, and that will allow the World Congress to become a even more global event. We are also considering our outreach, marketing, and programming to make sure they are relevant and timely.

Over the past seven decades, the World Congress has marked important advances in the world of work and prevention. The XXII World Congress will continue this tradition and provide you with thought leadership, wisdom and experience that will reflect the realities of prevention in today's world of work.

How we are adapting

• Over the course of the next few months, we will be revamping our page to make sure you can easily find the information you need about the Congress - keep an eye out for our new look in September 2020!

• We are planning some big activities for Fall 2020; for more details, sign up to receive the latest information.

• We are going for a virtual format (but you will continue to meet us in person)! We are planning to make the XXII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work a virtual and face-to-face experience. Sign up to receive the latest information later this year.
