Inorganic chemistry is defined as the chemistry of all elements and their compounds that do not contain carbon (i.e. are not organic by nature). Major and trace inorganic contaminants in soil and water are typically measured by a combination of spectroscopic, electrometric and automated colourimetric techniques.
