Raptor PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc)

Our PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) hardfacing service is a versatile method of depositing high-quality metallurgically fused deposits on a variety of parts. Soft alloys, medium and high hardness materials, and carbide composites can be deposited on a variety of substrates to achieve diverse properties such as mechanical strength, wear and corrosion resistance and creep. PTA hardfacing has several significant advantages over traditional welding processes such as oxyfuel (OFW) and gas tungsten arc (GTAW) welding.

• Our PTA overlay can increase wear life up to 3 to 5 times that of conventional overlay
• Our process PTA is fully automated, providing a high degree of reproducibility.
• Our PTA process allows precise metering of metallic powder feedstocks. As a result a lesser quantity of material is used when compared to other traditional welding processes.
• Our Process permits precise control of important weld parameters i.e. powder feed rates, gas flow rates, amperage, voltage, and heat input, ensuring a high degree of consistency from lot to lot. Controlled heat input ensures weld dilutions that can be controlled from 5-7% in most cases.
• Our PTA process produces deposits of a given alloy that are tougher and more corrosion resistant then counterparts laid down by GTAW or OFW processes. Weld deposits are characterized by very low levels of inclusions, oxides, and discontinuities.
• Our PTA process produces smooth deposits that significantly reduce the amount of post weld machining required.
• Our PTA parameters can be adjusted to provide a variety of deposits in thicknesses from 1.2 to 2.5 mm (0.05 to 0.10 in.) or higher.  These can be deposited by a single pass at a rate of 1 kg/h up to 13 kg/h depending upon the torch, powder and application.

Raptor PTA application

Due to the great wear resistance and wear impact resistance we apply PTA on a variety of parts, generally used but not limited to the following applications/industries: mining, power generation, mineral processing, dredging, agriculture, etc. Common parts that we overlay with PTA are: tips, adapters, shrouds, cuttings, edges. Grousers, blades, wear caps, auger parts and petro chemical parts.

ProARM™

Our ProARM™ hardfacing service is targeting applications that are looking for high impact and high abrasion resitant solution. The ProARM™ particle matrix consists out of high quality particles that create an excellent bond/structure against impact and wear. Independent testing showed that ProARM™ virtually had no loss of overlay due to impact, compared to Raptor PTA overlay. This high quality overlay solution provides our customers a solution in applications where impacts seems to be the dominant factor.

Raptor ARM

With our fully automated robots we provide ARM hardfacing service. We provide a tungsten or chromium carbide overlay to meet the needs of our customers. We also provide custom ARM overlay processes for unique wear applications that are truly customer specific. ARM hardfacing is a great solution for low impact and high abrasive wear conditions.
