With more than 9,600 full-time and part-time students, Laurentian University is a mirror of Canada itself. One of only two bilingual universities in the country, we have a significant Indigenous Student population and a growing number of international students. Today, the University counts over 60,000 alumni. Strong in its bilingual and tri-cultural traditions and with deep roots in northern Ontario, Laurentian University continues to expand its program offerings, research activities and partnerships in Canada and abroad.

The planning process at public institutions involves many key stakeholders, both internal and external, that contribute immensely both the development and execution of the resulting plans. Laurentian is no different in this case.
 
The overarching university Strategic Plan (2012-2017) was the product of months of consultation and inclusive discussions.This strategic plan was fueled by an exisiting Academic Plan, and has since produced the framework for the Research Plan.
