About Us

MetalCorp Limited is a Canadian junior resource company with offices in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is exploring for base and precious metals throughout the Canadian Shield, one of the most prolific mineral districts on the planet.

To fulfill our strategy for renewal and growth we identify early stage mineral properties that can be enhanced by exploration and discovery. Our entrepreneurial spirit in research and acquisition allows us to seek project opportunities that meet market demand and increase shareholder wealth.

MetalCorp Limited shares trade on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol MTC.

History

MetalCorp Limited was founded in 2002 through an amalgamation between Redbird Gold Corporation and a numbered Ontario company. As MetalCorp grew we aquired many key prospects including North Rock, Black Bear (Red Lake) and the Big Lake property.

In 2006, MetalCorp began to yield benefits through major discoveries at both Big Lake, where a high grade poly-metallic sulfide zone was discovered, and at North Rock, where a high grade intercept grading 12.2 g/t Platinum over 4 meters, with 46.1 g/t over 0.5 meters, was encountered in a drill campaign.

From 2006 to 2008, MetalCorp continued to develop its exploration efforts and advanced several properties. However, a combination of the 2008 downturn along with internal struggles and personnel changes resulted in challenges for the organization.

The next 24 months were a transitional period to re-establish the company's roots. Naomi Nemeth, a director of MetalCorp acted as interim CEO and President. Charles Greig, joined the company as Vice-President, Exploration and significant advances were made to strategically reestablish the company back to its former position as a major exploration group.

Chris Dougherty took over the helm of the Company in 2010, and over the next 2 years, moved the Company forward by looking at new projects and divesting a number of non-core properties. He also oversaw the complete rebuilding and establishment of the Company’s secure servers and systems that safeguards the geological and other info that is the core of our business.

Since 2013, Don Sheldon has assumed the post of President and CEO, as the Company has worked diligently to weather the storm that is one of the worst climates for mining and exploration juniors in financial history. While many juniors have fallen, MetalCorp continues to work quietly, waiting for a better climate to continue field work and move the Company’s efforts forward.
