Mining Association of Manitoba

About Us

MAMI was originally established in 1940 as the Mid-west Metal Mining Association. MAMI is governed by a Board of Directors, comprised of firms in the mining industry that employ 40 or more employees. All member companies can participate in MAMI's policy development committees. The purpose of the committees is to develop an industry position on collective issues which are recommended to the Board of Directors. Sub-committees include Exploration, Environment, Taxation and Indigenous Relations.

Formerly the Mines Accident Prevention Association of Manitoba (MAPAM), MAMI's Safety Committee promotes and implements leading-edge accident prevention actions and programs, and assist in workers compensation management for its members.

The Mines Accident Prevention Association of Manitoba (MAPAM), now amalgamated with MAMI, was founded in 1962 to meet the increasing need for safety and consulting services to the rapidly expanding mining industry. Under its new umbrella, it will continue to promote and implement leading-edge accident prevention actions and programs, and assist in workers compensation management for its members.

For over 50 years, MAPAM has represented the interests of the mining industry and will continue to provide value added services for its membership under the Mining Association of Manitoba Inc.
