Fort Albany First Nation
About Us
Fort Albany First Nation is Cree Nation community along the west coast of James Bay. With a population of approximately 1,200 people within the community itself, Fort Albany First Nation serves around 5,000 band members that it shares with Kashechewan First Nation.
The community is only accessible by fly in during the warm seasons. It becomes accessible via winter road during the months from late December to early March.
Fort Albany First Nation is in the Treaty 9 area and its regional political body is Mushkegowuk Council.

Guided by the seven sacred grandfather teachings and grounded in our natural environment, we endeavor to be self-sustaining by partnering with internal/external services and promoting education as a foundation for a balanced and healthier community for the Peetabeck People.
