The Corporation's customer base spans natural resources, construction, manufacturing, industrial processes and utilities.

Wajax Income Fund is a leading Canadian distributor and service support provider which carries on operations through three core businesses: Mobile Equipment, Power Systems and Industrial Components. With a combined network of over 100 branches across Canada, these businesses sell to and service a customer base that includes companies working in the natural resources, construction, manufacturing, industrial processing, and utilities markets.

In 2008, Wajax celebrated its 150th anniversary.  As one of the oldest businesses in Canada Wajax has played an active role in the development of the country’s infrastructure.  The roots of the Fund trace back to 1858 when B.J. Coghlin opened a blacksmith shop in Montreal. The smithy operation in due course gave way to the manufacture of springs for carriages and later for railcars. Coghlin’s business continued to grow steadily and, in 1954, it acquired its first mobile equipment subsidiary.  From that point onward, until diversification strategies were conceived and developed in the late 1960s and thereafter, the primary focus of the business became the selling and servicing of mobile equipment. Significant diversifications occurred in 1968 and 1978, respectively, w hen the first Power Systems and Industrial Components businesses were acquired.

Wajax grew substantially through 23 acquisitions in the mid-1990’s, and revenues increased from approximately $250 million to over $1 billion. In 2011, Wajax Income Fund became a Corporation.

The Wajax 150th anniversary book details the histories of each core business and how they came together to form what is now known as Wajax Income Fund.

September 15, 2011, Wajax Corporation unveiled new brands for its three key divisions, further strengthening the Corporation's national identity.

“The Wajax name has stood for superior products, excellent service and competitive pricing for over a century and a half. With personnel and branches in every province, the Wajax name is synonymous with quality,” President and CEO Neil Manning said, unveiling logos for the newly named Wajax Power Systems, Wajax Industrial Components, and Wajax Equipment.

“By bringing all three divisions under one common brand name, customers, suppliers and vendors will be able to appreciate the Corporation’s size, strength, and integrated approach to business.”

The rebranding initiative also supports the $1.1 billion-plus Corporation’s ability to continue to attract the industry’s leading personnel through ongoing recruiting and retention strategies.

The newly rebranded divisions include:

• Wajax Power Systems – This division combines Waterous Power Systems, DDACE Power Systems, and the recently acquired Harper Power Products. Its 28 branches distribute engines, transmissions and related products.

• Wajax Industrial Components – Formerly known as Kinecor and its Peacock division, this division’s 58 branches distribute, service and repair industrial components including bearings, power transmission parts, hydraulics, process equipment and automation technologies.

• Wajax Equipment – Wajax Industries receives this updated brand name throughout its 31 branches, which reflects the division’s role as the nation’s largest multi-line distributor of equipment.

“Beginning today, the Wajax name and logo will be an even more prominent part of Canada’s most important sectors: industrial/commercial, mining, oil sands, construction, oil and gas, transportation, forestry, government and utilities, and metal processing,” Manning said.
