Temporary Full-Time – 12 month assignment
 
Reporting to the Director, Organizational Development & Talent Management (ODTM), the Generalist is accountable for providing a range of human resources functions supporting the College’s strategic plan and the implementation of short and long-term projects.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Three (3) year Diploma/Degree in Human Resources Management and/or Business Administration
  • Completion of related professional development courses in pursuit of a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in multiple human resources areas including but not limited to talent acquisition, compensation, employee relations, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, data analytics and project management.  Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and automated systems is required
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment with strong multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of change and project management practices
  • Tact and discretion to recognize and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong client focus with an awareness of and sensitivity to diversity
  • Ability to gather information, analyze, evaluate, formulate and recommend appropriate courses of action
  • Professional demeanour with a strong customer service orientation and effective presentation and interpersonal skills.  Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with superior attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated skills with creative problem solving
  • Excellent follow-through skills and proven ability to take initiative accompanied with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency with computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365: Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and MS Teams. Experience maintaining web page software is an asset
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Coordinate and support various elements of short and long term human resources projects with various internal/external stakeholders
  • Provide professional, confidential support to the Organizational Development & Talent Management Team in the areas of HRIS Administration, HR Reporting, interpretation and administration of Human Resources policies and programs, etc.
  • Provide information and guidance to College management and employees regarding a variety of human resources matters
  • Maintain and update employee files and master data in all HR systems
  • Analyze and review various human resources data for import into the College automated systems
  • Generate reports, maintain user-guides, employee enrolment in HR systems and act as a Subject Matter Expert with respect to HR, Time and Attendance, HR Analytics and Self Service
  • Assist with the gathering and interpretation of HR metrics (budgeting, attendance, hiring activities, etc.)
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations for policies and processes
  • Contribute to a work environment that creates high engagement and a positive employee experience
  • Provide general administrative support to assist the department including drafting written communications and documents
  • Assist with labour relations, talent management and payroll preparation and act as a back-up as necessary

  • Responsible for project management support to the Manager of Community Based and Contract Training by using the Client Impact Model to implement the project

Technician – Dental Hygiene Program
  • Collaborate with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment
  • Work with community agencies and dental offices to recruit patients for student clinical labs
Professor, Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program
  • Deliver lessons covering Level 1  introductory level curriculum to Pre-Apprenticeship students over an eight-week period
  • Teach theory in class and practical projects in the Commerce Court Campus lab
