The Associate Producer for Sportsnet 360 is a newsroom leader who will be responsible for executing the vision, setting expectations and delivering compelling and entertaining sports news for Sportsnet 360. The successful candidate will line-up, write and produce Live Updates and Wheel Hilights for the network. She or he will have solid editorial judgement, understanding the urgency and process of covering breaking Sports News.
 
Responsibilities:
• Working on the Assignment Desk, the Associate Producer will ensure all of the day’s top Sports stories are properly covered.
• Ensure the plans set out by the Executive Producer of News and Information and Managing Editor are followed.
• Ensure accuracy of all content airing on Sportsnet 360
• Be an active voice in developing short and long-term planning for news content on Sportsnet 360
• Work with Sportsnet Producers and other Associate Producers to ensure the best strategies are being used and coordinated execution is in place.
• Work with internal and external partners to ensure the needs of all of Sportsnet’s platforms are met
• The Associate Producer SN 360  is nimble and ready to react if and when breaking news occurs and a new direction is required.
• Where needed, the SN 360 Associate Producer will be seconded to other Sportsnet platforms including Central and Live Events
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
• Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
• Post-secondary degree in broadcast, journalism, media or equivalent
• Thorough working knowledge of elite television production techniques
• Control Room experience, particularly producing live news television
• Strong sports knowledge and a passion for Sports
• An understanding of Sportsnet's vision of multi-platform coverage (television, web, radio, digital and magazine).
• Demonstrated strong production, editorial and storytelling skills
• Experience working in a deadline driven environment in a News and/or Sports Department and will have experience working on LIVE events
